persepolis blog number 1

I’m doing number 12,4and 1. The role of women in the story is very similar to what it always has which is very “low” or looks down on. An example in the story is the maid. She is in a low social class so that makes her not able to date or married any other class beside lower class or just as equal to her. But the men they don’t really seems to matter on what social class they want to married to because in the story they actually give the boy that liked the maid an chances to see if he wants to married her even though she is in a lower social class. Another example is Marji’s mother, how when every women is suppose to or is order to wear the veil and her mother didn’t wear it, the men in the streets treated her like a slut or a whore. They told her that she should become one and get though in the street after getting raped or doing sexual activities. In this case women are never really equal to men. The women has to wear a veil without no hair or skin showing if no one doesn’t follow they get to do whatever to that women. But as for men they had almost freedom to anything because all they had to do is wear long sleeve shirt, tuck in their shirt and have beard or cannot shave. To me, their rules are not fair because the women had to suffer from the heat with the veil they wear but the men don’t suffer so much heat as the women do. I think they should just have everyone wear the veil doesn’t matter what the gender is. Another example is when the girl who likes to wear miniskirt up to her thighs or showing her thighs they treat her or make her seems really bad. But if a men use to wear short sleeves and do not have beards hey seems to be okay before all the control had take over. Persepolis is an organized and structure by history, present, religion and past the drawing really gives you a good idea how the setting takes place. The drawing makes you understand the text more also makes the story more interesting. Like how every women and men has to dress like when the people were taking over. Where the woman has to wear veil and the men have beards and wear long sleeve. (Page 75) also it has the modern and fundamentalist way of clothes wearing. I think that this book is so popular because it had great meaning of the Iran people. She had great details from history, religious and the main character’s personal life. It’s just not about history or personal life or religious only it had mixture of it. Maybe that is one reason why it is so popular. Also another reason might is the author knows how to switch the ideas and points around to make it interesting and still also realistic. Now people now understand why the Iran women have to wear a veil. This story had a clear understandable about the women had to wear the veil all the time. i haven't read any other graphics memories but i read regular manga comic book and they bot are different and sinilar in some ways. the drawings and wrting is very sinilar but the reading is kind of different. i think persepolis compare to other books it is a very great book. i like the book,it's very interesting and funny. It's not just about the funny but it has funny facts in it. which makes the reading very interesting. i wouldn't knowwhere to place the book in the book store. but i think i woulod put it in the history section because history books are very boring to me. so if i put the book there ot makes the history a bit more interesting because it's a graphic novel.
